Loose Connections
A student was given a car that wouldn’t start without a push. He came up with a plan. When he was at school, he would get the students to give him a push start, and whenever he parked the car, he would park on a hill.
After doing this for 2 years the time came for him to graduate, so he thought he would give his car away to a friend who was new at the school. He began to explain to his friend what he had to do to start it. He also identified the hills that he had used to park the car.
As he was explaining, his friend lifted up the bonnet of the car and moved a couple of cables. He got in the car turned the key, and then the engine started.
For two years he had endured a needless and tiresome routine. The power was there all the time. Only a loose connection was stopping that power from working.
The lesson we can take from this story is that there is a power which is available for us all. But, we have to mend our loose connection with God before that power begins to work in our lives.
For fifteen years I was an addict and my life was going nowhere. Then in 1995, I asked God to be part of my life. I invited Him to come in, and from that point of connection I realised that God was working in me. There was a new power at work inside that started to transform, regenerate and empower me. Within weeks, I'd come off heroin.
This same power is available to you too. However, you have to mend your loose connection with God by asking Him into your life and then that power starts to work.
